In class we focused on differentiating instruction (DI). I always love talking about this because I feel like there is so much for me to learn about in DI. We were broken up into groups based on how well we knew DI, and each group was responsible for explaining the different components of DI. My group had to act out DI, answer if behavior management and organization is necessary for effective DI, and answer what is the teacher's role?
FOr our act of DI, we created a tableaux. A tableaux is a group of models (students) or motionless figures creating a scene. For our tableaux, we decided to have students working on a research topic, using different mediums. For example, some using the internet, books, magazines, videos, movies, talking with friends, using experiences, etc.; however they can best get their information. We said that behavior management and organization is always necssary for DI; it's always necessary for instruction period, or else it would be chaotic. The teacher's role in DI should be the facilitator, leading the students in the direction they neeed to be going in and stepping in when needed.
